I pride myself on making sure that this process is about you and your dreams for your home while also infusing my design and construction experience and I want this to be a blessed experience for your family!

The Design Process

The design process begins with collecting your thoughts and visions for your future home. I want to gather an understanding of the essence of the design you are looking for and your lifestyle needs.

We will start this process by completing a Client Questionnaire that will entail answering questions about your design intent from goal square footage and goal construction budget down to appliance sizes and details you wish to see in the home. You will fill out a list of the most important spaces in your home and a preference list for must-haves. The Client Questionnaire will serve as the program for your home design.

I require a site visit early in the process as understanding the location and surrounding environment is imperative to a custom design that can truly respond to the site conditions.

Create the Program

Step One

This brainstorming and problem-solving stage is one of my favorite stages of the design! It is an enjoyable, creative challenge to organize your wishes and site conditions into functional, livable spaces that flow with your lifestyle needs.

The ideas and information from the Client Questionnaire and preliminary meetings will set up the groundwork for some conceptual sketches and schematic design. Once the schematic designs are approved, we will then transition into preliminary computer drawings.

Create the Vision

Step two

In this phase we will be able to walk through the interior and exterior spaces as the design comes alive with the 3D capabilities of home design software.Your visions can be realized by adding your intended wall colors down to your flooring selections or cabinet and countertop preferences.

This stage allows for you to really envision the spaces we have created and ‘walk’ the house even from your own computer. Revisions can be made as needed and then move toward Construction Drawings.

During this design development phase, an Estimating Set can be provided if you want to receive additional preliminary budget numbers from a Builder.

Design Development

Step three

The final stage of the design process is taking all of the design work we have completed and providing construction documents.

This is where more detailed notes, additional framing dimensions, elevation notes, roof plans, electrical plans, building sections, cabinet elevations (as needed) and site plans (as needed) are produced to complete a full Builder’s Set of plans.

If structural or foundation plans are required or desired then I have a Licensed Structural Engineer I can refer you to. I will also send the New Home Specification Sheet that will allow you and I to compile some specifics about your home we have discussed to further help your estimating and building process with your builder.

Now your vision turns into tangible spaces for your family to share joy and continue your story!
